The origins of the enfield battle rifle are of the UK, during the era of WWI.
This one here is actually an Indian, made one that's been upgraded in caliber as well made with a stronger steel.
The main draw for me towards this rifle is it's very cheap price, and that it's the last of it's kind.
This is how the rifle first looked out of the box:

It was sort of embarrassing for me when the FFL dealer opened the box, and this thing was laying in it seeing that I went threw the trouble of buying the damn thing on top of that it was going to cost me 20$ just for the guy to hand it over to me. It was covered in thick globs of this gooey preservative which is just a discouraging mess.
It took a lot of time to get it off to, and I'm not sure if I ever got it all off actually, but I knew what I was aiming for so with the help of a few suggestions from somebody.
I went on to clean to steel of all the paint:
I used easy off over cleaner on the steel to eat all of the old paint away, and after a few applications I had bare steel glowing under the lamp so the next thing to do was paint the steel:
All I had to do was degrease the steel with a degreaser, and then spray paint where the metal needed to be painted. Everything came out great:

Well this is my first C&R rifle, and it was a great expirence.
